Bushfires in Australia commonly happen during the hotter months of the year because of Australia's hot, dry weather. Large areas of land are destroyed every year by bushfires, such as Black Saturday and Ash Wednesday, which caused massive damage to the residents in the area of destruction. Some of the most intense, extensive and deadly bushfires commonly occur during droughts and heat wave. The outcome of Australia's latest heatwave , the infamous 2009 Black Saturday bushfires, 173 people lost their live.
HOW DO BUSHFIRES HAPPEN?
Bushfires are usually caused by uncommonly long weather, called a heatwave. Heatwaves happen when masses of hot air stay over one place for a long time. There are no clouds nor winds to cool the area. They happen most oftenly near the equator, because of its hot climate. People cannot stay outside in this weather.
